One of the most difficult aspects of preaching among pastors is coming up with sermon ideas.

What do you do if you don’t know where to start?

To begin, select a Bible passage to preach about. But what verses are you going to teach?

The answer is more evident if you preach verse-by-verse, book-by-book. However, if you’re a topical preacher, as most pastors are, the number of alternatives can be overwhelming.

So here’s a list of 60 lists of good sermons to preach about as a pastors

I prefer preaching that is both current and verse-by-verse. So anytime I’m stumped for a sermon topic, I go through this list.

If I’m not careful, I’ll find myself preaching on some themes more than others. This list assists me in maintaining a balanced sermon calendar.

Each of these subjects might easily be turned into a sermon series. That might take up the next 7-10 years of your life.

Note that the verses presented for each topic are not intended to be exhaustive. You could also preach on a variety of other themes. These are just a few samples to help you get started.

What Makes a Great Sermon?

Consider sermons you’ve listened to, in the past and how they’ve affected you. What was it about that sermon that made it so memorable?

It’s critical to understand what makes a sermon “good” since, as you can see from a Google search, there are many different perspectives on what a sermon should focus on, how to deliver a sermon, how to construct a sermon, and so on. The idea is to make understanding “excellent” sermon and how to apply it this coming Sunday as simple as possible.

Our research has been summarized into five critical components of a “Great Sermon.”

  1. Great sermons start with a theme – Find sermon ideas in a range of areas to keep your mind open to God’s leading. Is there a verse from the Bible that has been on your mind recently? Is there a recent occurrence or trend on which you could comment? Start thinking about your next sermon with one of these suggestions.
  2. Great sermons combine biblical study – Look into biblical resources on the subject of your message. To assist you back up your sermon with a biblical point of view, look for Bible passages that connect to the topic.
  3. Excellent sermons demonstrate the point – The moral of any story usually leaves the greatest impression on the listener. It’s the same with sermon illustrations. A narrative at the start or finish of your sermon can assist your congregation remember what you’re saying.

What factors do you consider while deciding what to preach about?

greatest sermons ever preached

You could preach on a lot of facts and essential concepts from the Bible. How do you choose what to preach about, exactly? Not only that, but you’ll have to preach the following week and the week after that for as long as you’re preaching.

This may appear to be a difficult endeavor, but there are a variety of inventive ways to outline your sermon themes in advance.

  • To begin with, there is no right or wrong method to choose the topic for your next sermon.
  • Second, you are not alone in making this selection: there are three points to consider before you make your choice. The initial point of view comes from God; take some time to ask Him what He wants your congregation to hear. God knows exactly how a message will affect your audience, so pray about it first.
  • The congregation’s point of view is the third: Good shepherds, like Jesus, are aware of their flock’s needs and the challenges that must be handled. God can also inculcate this in us. He has a way of making it clear that you should preach on a specific topic or, perhaps, a specific event. The
  • Third point of view stems from your personal relationship with God: When you are living intimately with God, He will use your relationship with Him to bring things to your attention. If you’re having trouble with anything, it’s extremely probable that others are having trouble with the same thing.
  • Finally, the best approach to pick what to speak about is to listen to God: If we take the time to listen, He will place things on our hearts to preach about. Then we must play our part by obeying what He places on our hearts.

What is the best way to create a sermon outline?

good sermons to preach

Once you’ve figured out what makes a great sermon and heard from God about what you should speak about, all you have to do now is put it all together. Great! So, where do you begin?

  1. Consider a well-written article as an example of a basic sermon outline: you have an Introduction, a Main Point, a Body, and a Conclusion. Imagine doing the same thing with the Bible as your source.
  2. Create your attention-getting introductory paragraph first. This could be a personal anecdote, analogy, current event, or other visual element that pertains to the major topic of your sermon.
  3. Then explain why the main argument you’re trying to make is significant or relevant. What issues do you have with this topic? Why is this a contentious issue? How do you go about resolving these issues? Scriptures, tales, analogies, questions, and anything else that supports the main idea should be included in the body paragraphs.
  4. Finally, in the conclusion, summarize all of your points and refer back to the main point while including a call-to-action element. Finding a method to close your sermon by challenging your listeners to implement the key issue you just discussed is a good practice. You want them to remember the message long after the service is finished.

Great sermons to preach: my thought:

In Christianity, a sermon is an address or talk given to a congregation of Christians that usually contains theological or moral instruction. The Christian orators’ sermons were founded in part on the tradition of ancient orators giving public lectures. Although it is now commonly referred to as a homily, the original distinction between a sermon and a homily was that a sermon was delivered by a clergyman (licensed preacher), but a homily was read by a layperson from a written copy.
